Welcome to 2009.  This is a new year and a new beginning.  Our God loves new beginnings, that is what His grace is all about.  My prayer for us this year is that we’d slow down enough to keep the main things the main things.  Family, love, peace, joy, relaxation, contentment, and that our pursuit of Him would go full on like never before.  Let this be the year of the slow pace and fast chase.  Grace and Peace to you and your family.

Glow N Tell

New Series: Glow N Tell

I don’t remember having this much fun preparing for a series.  The series is all about teaching kids to build relationships with others in hopes of telling them about Jesus. As much as that alone excites us we are also giddy about how fun it is to get The AZ Theater ready.  You see for the entire series we will be using black lights and all glow in the dark stuff. The kids are going to love it.  This series will be unlike anything we’ve ever done.  Kids bring your friends, parents be ready to carpool, this is going to be great.  PS I want to give a huge shout out to Taylor Wynn for heading up the setting up team, thanx for all your doing, YOU ROCK!

Pick a fight?

Pick a fight?  Well, that just might be the first time you ever heard that phrase from church but that is exactly what we want you to do this week.  This past weekend we learned that not all fights are bad.  For example to fight cancer is a good thing.  To fight for your relationship with your parents is a good fight.  Thus as a family we want you to pick a fight.  Get your family together and discuss something you as a family will fight against.  Come up with something practical, realistic, and something your family can get passionate about.  We want to know what you are fighting for so please comment below and let us know what fight have you picked?

The Good Fight

The Good Fight

The past weekend was a goodie.  We started our new Saturday night (6:00 pm) service and the whole weekend was fabulous.  Over the past several weeks we’ve had a good wave of new leaders step and up and they did an awesome job this past weekend.  We also started a new series called, The Good Fight, hence all the army decor in the Theater (Taylor Wynn and Stephanie Larsen did all the decorating:) The series challenges us as families to stop fighting over pointless stuff and pick a cause we can all fight against together, it’s going to be a great month.

A family with priorities, RIGHT ON!

“It is the same with my word.  I send it out, and it always produces fruit.  It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”  Isaiah 55:11
During ZOOPLOSION over the summer we had over 100 decsions made, which was awesome.  But that was then and we wanted to do something NOW that would help them in their new found relationship with Jesus Christ.  So with the help of a gracious family within FOkids we were able to purchase 125 Bibles.  Not small generic Bibles but good study bibles for kids.  Today we met to distribute them to almost 100 households.  It was so cool seeing the body of Christ come together and follow up those decisions.  It was neat seeing whole families pack out an SUV and deliver bibles together.  That’s the kind of family I want to look like, well done Simmons Fam.  What a great morning.   Thank you to everyone who helped get the greatest love letter ever written to kids that have a whole lifetime to soak in that Word.  May it be so.  I look forward to seeing the fruit in the coming years.

I love back to school time!  After a summer were everyone is in and out of camps, vacations, etc. I love seeing everyone come back eager to worship.  Becuase people are flowing back into town the AZ Theater had a fresh buzz.  The energy of everyone being back was great.  We jumped into part II of our series Welcome to Hollywood!  How to act out the Word of God.  We focused on Lights!  How lights are only useful if we follow the lit path.  As well movie scripts are only useful if we follow out the role were to play.  We explained how God gives each of us a script and now the lights are on and it is time to follow the script.  It was our first week with the old 5th graders gone and the new 1st graders in.  As much as we’ll miss the old 5th graders we were excited to usher in the new 1st graders.

Message Title: Welcome to Hollywood Part II, Lights!
Sermon in a Sentence: We all have a role and a script, the lights are on, lets act it out.

Key Verse: “Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!  Then I will not be ashamed
when I compare my life with your commands.”

Story from Scripture: Psalm 119:5-6

Music Play list: Tell the World & One Way

Favorite Moment: 1) The game was “Chopstick Challenge”.  In honor of the Olympics being in China we played a game were kids had an eating contest were the had to use only chopsticks.  Round 1 was pudding, round 2 was grapes, and round 3 was gummy worms. The kids really got into it and it was hilarious watching them.
